Last night during a DC Comics special on the CW, chief creative officer Geoff Johns revealed new information about the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe which included the first official trailer for Suicide Squad. While many of you are familiar with the big icons of the quickly approaching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, the spotlight in this trailer is far removed from the world famous “Trinity” and highlights some lesser-known, but still very great villains.
The trailer is set to the tune of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and gives a sort of whimsical maniacal vibe, as Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) defers to the voices in her head, and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) breaks noses left and right. If the actual film is anything like the trailer, it’s guaranteed to be at the very least nice to look at; the color scheme is punchy and vibrant, while also keeping with the darker theme of DC’s cinematic universe.
David Ayer, director of Suicide Squad seems pretty confident in this film, with good reason too. As he stated on Twitter:
A film can only be as good as its characters.

And with a cast of characters that includes: Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), the Joker (Jared Leto), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), this movie is setting up to be a real blast.
Overall, I think Suicide Squad has more potential to kick off DC’s new movie endeavors more so than BvS simply because it’s different. Even as a huge superman fan myself, I am honestly more excited to see Suicide Squad over Batman and Superman duking it out on the big screen. But we’ll just have to see what happens this fall. They may be the “Worst. Heroes. Ever.”, but they’re definitely the best villains. Be sure to bring your whole “Skwad” to check this movie out on August 5th.
Bonus: Best love story of all time
